Tattoo Removal
Over the years, many different methods have been used for tattoo removal, each with differing levels of success. Dermabrasion, salabrasion, skin graft, and Argon or CO2 laser, which left behind scars in place of the tattoo.
Obviously, this is undesirable. More recently Fade Creams, Acid Peels, and Tattooing a variety of chemicals and pastes into the area to draw out the ink have appeared.
These methods need to be approached with extreme caution as they primarily prey on those who are desperate to remove their tattoo and the thought of scars may be secondary.
But remember that damage to the area is very likely to be permanent and often worse than the tattoo itself.
Laser specialists now use the highly successful Q-Switched lasers to remove tattoos with extremely low risk of scarring.
The Nd:YAG laser is the newest member of the Q-Switched class of lasers. This laser will emit certain wavelengths of light. When the wavelengths emitted come in contact with the skin, they pass through the skin but are absorbed by tattoo pigment.
The Nd:YAG laser is designed to emit the wavelengths of light that most closely match the colors of ink most common to tattoos.
When the light from the laser hits the skin, while passing through the skin, it will be absorbed by the ink only and break the ink up. The ink is then removed by the body through its natural filtering system. You will be able to see your tattoo fading away.
We use the very latest laser technology and are committed to Tattoo Removal.
That means we are constantly looking at the best possible ways, and the newest updates to help you achieve your goal.
Can all tattoo's be treated?
The great majority of tattoos, whether professional or amateur, respond to our laser treatments. Some Pigments, especially green, orange and yellow are more difficult than other colours to eradicate, but even they usually respond following a prolonged course of treatment.
Does it hurt?
It can sting a little and feels like having an elastic band flicked against your skin. For sensitive areas, we can recommend a topical anaesthetic to minimize discomfort. Please contact us for details.
How does it work?
The laser fires an intense pulse extremely fast and for a TINY amount of time. The laser breaks down the pigments in the tattoo into tiny parts, these are then removed by the bodies immune system.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on your tattoo - it’s size, colour and the depth of penetration of the ink amongst other factors. An amatuer tattoo may need 2-5 treatments. A professional multi-coloured design might need 5-10 or more treatments.
